Luke 10 : 30-35

And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, and went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

The disturbing question that troubled my soul as I read this passage of the scripture over and over again is :

"WHY SHOULD A PERSON DEPART FROM JERUSALEM TO JERICHO "?

JERICHO IS A CURSED CITY

Joshua 6:26 And Joshua adjured them at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before the LORD, that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.

JERICHO IS A CITY OF DEATH.

1 Kings 16:34 In his days did Hiel the Bethelite build Jericho: he laid the foundation thereof in Abiram his firstborn, and set up the gates thereof in his youngest son Segub, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Joshua the son of Nun.

JERUSALEM IS A CITY OF PRAISE.

Psalms 102:21 To declare the name of the LORD in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem;

JERUSALEM IS A CITY OF PROTECTION.

Psalm 125 :2 As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.

JERUSALEM IS THE DWELLING PLACE OF THE LORD.

Psalms 135:21 Blessed be the LORD out of Zion, which dwelleth at Jerusalem. Praise ye the LORD.

JERUSALEM IS THE CITY OF PROSPERITY

Psalms 122:6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.

There is no one person who operates under the guidance of the Holy Spirit that will leave Jerusalem to Jericho.

The steps of the righteous are ordered by the Lord, proclaim the Holy Book.

Psalms 91 v 1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Whenever a person moves from the territory of God to the territory of the devil, from the companion of the righteous to the companion of sinners, from the accord of believers to the accord of unbelvers , from the path of light to the path of darkness , he falls into the hands of stealers, killers and destroyers.

John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Have you abandoned the city of Light for the city of destruction? Return and Christ will give you life today in abundance.

A PRIEST. The first person who saw this man in his sorry state was a priest.The priest is a symbol of worldly religion, this explains his inability to help.The worldly system is a faulty foundation that has not and will never have any compassion for humanity

THE LEVITES. The second person who meet him at the point of death was a Levite.The leviticus order is an order of law. Galatians 3:13-14 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.Quit thinking that your knowledge of science, the vain philosophy of the world or your knowledge of law will deliver you. Jericho was a city fortified by the standards of the law , but the walls fell flat.This explains why the levites took one look at this man in pains and walk away.

THE GOOD SAMARITAN. Let me draw your attention to an interesting attribute of this Man. The scripture said firstly he had compassion on the wounded man , bind his wound and pour oil and wine and carried him on his donkey to an inn and paid a price.

JESUS IS COMPASSION PERSONIFIED. Mark 1:41And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.

Mark 5:19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.

Mark 6:34 And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.

Mark 8:2I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat:

Luke 7:13 And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.

This implies that it is the nature of Jesus to have compassion on us.

BINDED HIS WOUND. Christ is your balm of Gilead.

Jeremiah 8:22 Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?

PAID FOR HIS CARES. Christ bought us you for a price.1 Corinthians 6:19-20 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Friends, the good Samaritan that rescued the man is no other fellow than our LORD JESUS CHRIST.

Are you in Jericho? Jericho is a place of pains, Jericho is a place of hurt, Jericho is a place of abandonment, Jericho is a place of disappointment, Jericho is a place Neglect, Jericho is a place of misplaced potentials, Jericho is a place of lost potentials. Jericho is a place of curse, Jericho is a place of failure, Jericho is a place of lost opportunities, Jericho is a place of bareness, Jericho is a place of defeat.

Today if you accept Jesus Christ as your lord and Saviour you are rescued from Jericho in the Mighty name of Jesus.

FINALLY THE POWER OF WHATSOEVER.

The good Samaritan gave 2 pence to the inn keeper and said to him, take care of the wounded man WHATSOEVER you spend when I come back i will pay.

Whosoever implies that our Lord Jesus Christ certainly is coming back to take us to his heavenly glory, but most importantly, Whosoever means that you are covered in every facet.

Whatsoever means that the one under the care of our Lord Jesus Christ is insured comprehensively .

Whosoever is an open cheque for your wellbeing.

Whosoever means that you have a platinum card placed for you to spend from.

Whatsoever means that you have an endless abundance.

Whatsoever means limitless potentials.

Whosoever means that their are no limitations in you if only you can say this prayers with me.

LORD JESUS COME INTO MY LIFE AND MAKE ME YOUR CHILD AND GIVE ME THE GRACE TO WALK WITH YOU FROM THIS DAY IN HOLLINESS .IN JESUS MIGHTY NAME.
